My working experience relates to both business and ERP business consultancy. I have worked in different industries (food, retail, various manufacturing and wholesaler) in procurement & logistics and supported in different ERP implementations in the same types of industries. One of the critical successfactors of a succesfull ERP implementation is that resources are onboarded with sufficient expertise on e.g. business consulting, process modelling, application consulting and project management.
ABOUT MYSELF AND WHAT DRIVES ME
David Raaphorst is my name and I live in Woerden (NL) with my wife and 2 sons. Running, triathlons, music and reading are amongst my favourite hobbies, next to being coach of my boys soccer teams. Challenging myself at the things I do is what attracts me most, regardless if it relates to private or professional activities.
Sharing knowledge and challenging other people is what drives me most, both private as in business. It is my aim to inspire and motivate other people which will get me inspired as well. To take an example in my personal life; being a trainer/ coach of my son’s soccer team gives me a lot of inspiration. It is not me teaching and inspiring the kids but it is also me who learns and gets inspired by them.
Before I started my career as a consultant in 2003 I have been working in the procurement and logistics area for wholesalers and manufacturing companies in retail and other areas. After that I joined 2 Microsoft partners and developed my consultancy skills.
Connecting People, Process and Technology goes along with my work. In 2016 I have started David Raaphorst Consultancy BV in order to be able to deliver tailormade support by bringing People, Processes and Technology together.
INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE
Manufacturing
During multiple implementations I have been incorporating Dynamics AX with business needs in industries like painting/ coatings, anodes production (aluminium), agricultural, office supplies and food. These rollouts included both discrete (incl. lean manufacturing) and process manufacturing.
Wholesale
Securing the business requirements at wholesale organisations in the industries like vending & food services, electronic locks for hospitality industry, medical systems, piping industry, kitchen accessories, etc. During these implementations I used my knowledge on the supply chain, MRP and advanced WMS modules of Dynamics AX in order to align with the business requirements.
Retail
Implementing experience in retail in industries such as supermarket, hearing aids, paints & coatings which included analysing and determining business process model and process requirements and secure an integrated and robust application solution (e.g. replenishment, store operations, logistics and master data management (GS01).

APPLICATION CONSULTANCY
Dynamics AX provides many functionality to support you on your daily operational processes. It is essential that the application is aligned with business processes and rules. PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Regardless if an agile based project methodology (e.g. scrum) or any other methodology is used it is essential that process and application scope are defined and validated with stakeholders and people from different business areas. Realistic budget, timelines and critical factors have to be identified and aligned with stakeholders upfront. Which deliverables is expected from whom and when should milestones be realized? TRAINING
Developing a Training Strategy and Plan comes along when choosing and/or developing a Project Methodology. This Plan should give an answer to e.g. who will train the end-users. Application training at the very start of the project is required to get the key-user up-to-speed with the new application. How to organize train-the-trainer meetings and how to prepare the trainers for the end-user trainings? TESTING
Part of the Initiation phase of an ERP implementation is to define the training strategy and to develop a training plan. Who should execute the unit testing, integration testing and the User Acceptance Testing? When should the test scenarios and scripts be finalized? Which business cases should be used for testing?
